Angelo Asti (1807 - 1903) was a well-knownFrench artist who specilized in portraits of beautiful women. Some consider him the father of pin-up art, as his work was widely used in calendars and postcards. Unlike classical portraits by Joseph Stieler, Asti's are more of Art Nouveau style. They were widely reproduced on Royal Vienna porcelain plates. The following are some fine examples.
