THE SLEEP OF SORROW AND THE DREAM OF JOY modeled by Raphaelle Monti. Figures floating in the air was his
signature feature. The original marble version was created in 1862 and is now located in Victoria and Albert Museum,
London. Parian copies were distributed for the Ceramic and Crystal Palace Art Union starting in 1875. The subect, also
called "Piacere e Delore" or "Pleasure and Pain", is an allegory of the Italian Risogrimento and as such, was very popular.
